Project Title:

Malacca Historical Building: Emblem Mobile App


Brief:

The heritage is our legacy from the past and what we live with today; it is what we pass on to the future generation, Malacca is an example of a cultural heritage site. Malacca is a cultural site declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as it contains intellectual significant history that shaped and reflect Malaysia. As heritage tourism is being exploited on the cost of the heritage reservation, and there are not the adequacy of creative tourism platforms or tools to help to cover promoting and documenting the basic historical sign information of the site, not to mention using the user-friendly mobile platforms which may contribute to making it vulnerable. This research is to analyze the outcome of technological innovation in promoting Malaysian heritage and to suggest a comprehensive prototype as a database for information on Malacca Historical Building for smartphones. The survey has made to estimate the need for the resulted app. This apps that has been named “PixScanner”, has been developed to provide comprehensive information on the cultural heritage site of Malacca building and encourages getting reliable information at their fingertips while providing them with an engaging cultural and novel experience.

Development:

PixScanner is a mobile app built to help people discover the details of Malaysian heritage without the hassle. According to Viola (2019), technology can be brought at the service of heritage that could revolutionize the tourism industry by developing new experiences at the point of intersection of digital and physical worlds.


Impact:

History imitates our culture as well as architecture as a reflection of our society in representing the values, achievements, and demise of civilizations over time. The apps were aimed at encouraging sustainable tourism, creating employment, and supporting local culture and services while helping the society being patriotic, as the tangible culture are the reflections of our history.
