Project Title: Review on Application of Mobile Apps in Recycling Books and Clothes for Orang Asli

Brief:

Malaysians are well aware of the importance of recycling in order to achieve a sustainable community and to create a greener environment well (Haji Mohamed, 2014; Mokthsim & Osman Salleh, 2014; Ramli, Omar, & Ahmad, 2019). Recycling helps to reduce wastes and it can help those who are in need. This project focuses on the application of mobile app towards recycling where the community can donate their belongings such as books and clothes in exchange for points/rewards. Furthermore, those recycled items will then be given to the Orang Asli to fulfill their basic necessities and improving their quality of life. Thus, the project target audiences are the recycler’s community and the Orang Asli.

Key Issues: Orang Asli, Mobile App, Recycling, Sustainable Community, Quality Education

Development:

  1. Quality Education Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. With the recycling mobile app, recycling items such as unused books and clothes can be given to the Orang Asli to meet their basic necessities and enter society as full and productive citizens. It is to provide them with the use of quality learning resources and professional development and creating a safe and supportive learning environment.

  2. Sustainable Cities and Communities Making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable. Without proper waste management, it can hurt the ecosystem. Recycling is seen to be one of the most effective ways to allow the community to continue to thrive and grow while improving resource use and reducing pollution and poverty.

Impact:

The application of recycling mobile app will further improve the recycling habits of Malaysians as it can be accessed easily by many. Consequently, this will help to create a sustainable community and creating an eco-friendly environment where wastes are being managed thoroughly. Besides that, the usage of the mobile app itself makes it easier for everyone to use at any time and anywhere as it is understandable that finding a place that provides a recycling service can be hard and sometimes far away.

The main objective of this project is the recycling of old or unused books and clothes being recycled through the app where it will be given to the Orang Asli community for them to use and this application also provide news for the community regarding Orang Asli. Other than that, with these basic necessities are met, they have the motivation to go to school and thus achieving Goal 4 of Sustainable Development which is Quality Education and the objectives of Jabatan Kemajuan Orang Asli (JAKOA).
