Project Title: Zero Waste Grocery Shopping- Creating Environmental Awareness Among Consumer
Brief:
Zero Waste Grocery Shopping, a concept that is rarely introduced in Malaysia, is introduced to eliminate single-use plastic usage towards sustainable waste management among consumers. In this project, a gravity bin food dispenser and bulk buying concept will be introduced and a microsite campaign will be created to build up the promotion among Malaysians. The primary target audiences are people who tend to buy food items in pre-packaged plastic.
Key Issues:
Environmental problems related to plastic waste have become a major problem in Malaysia where it has been ranked as 8th among the top ten countries with mismanaged plastic waste in the world.
The current biodegradable alternatives are higher in price than plastics. This factor does not encourage businesses to embrace alternative products.
Development:
Develop a Gravity Bin Food Dispenser project.
To implement the concept of economic, zero-waste grocery shopping by eliminating single-use plastic towards sustainable waste management.
Impact:
SDG Number 12: Responsible Consumption and Production
SDG Number 13: Climate Action
SDG Number 15: Life on Land
